Construction and renovations started in mid-January at 901 W. Oakton St. preparing for a new M&K Truck Centers dealership coming to the O’Hare area. This will be the tenth and newest location in the dealership group as they extend sales, service and leasing capabilities throughout the Midwest. M&K’s corporate vision has been anchored around providing the best possible service to their customers in an ever changing economic, operating and regulatory environment. “Extending our service area in Chicago was the next logical step based upon the development in the area. We looked north of our existing stores in Alsip, Summit and Joliet to complement our current Illinois dealer footprint,” said Ron Meyering, President at M&K, about opening the O’Hare dual-branded dealership.

“With the road construction happening at the Elmhurst exit (off I-90) it’s going to be more than convenient to get to this M&K from the highway. We’ll have easy access right on the Northwest corner of that new diverging diamond interchange,” Ron went on to say after announcing the new dealership’s location.

M&K Truck Centers will occupy 70,000 square feet of the existing building at the site in Des Plaines, IL. Plans for the space include 30 bays for servicing trucks, 7,000 square feet of office space, and 13,000 square feet of parts inventory being absorbed from the existing M&K facility in Melrose Park, IL.

Key players for this dealership have already been put into place at M&K Truck Centers and will oversee operations at the Des Plaines facility upon its opening. General Manager for M&K Truck Centers in Des Plaines, Steve Waters, had his first day last week when the renovations and construction began. Reflecting on his employment, he said, “Having worked for a major competitor in the Chicagoland market for nearly 25 years, I know that M&K has a great reputation in the market for serving its customers. When Ron approached me about the opportunity to join the organization and manage his newest facility, it was one of those once in a lifetime offers you cannot refuse… So I jumped on it.”

Renovations for the site are scheduled to take place over the next few months with the dealership up and running in early summer. A set grand opening date has yet to be announced. M&K Truck Centers will sell new Mack and Volvo trucks out of this dealership, pre-owned trucks, and be able to service all makes and models for the O’Hare market.
